Teaching Our Littles to Work

"Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities." The Family: A Proclamation to the World

We love this paragraph (You can click on the link above to see the document in its entirety!) and believe in the principles mentioned within it. There is great value in teaching our children to work from the time they are little.....and it's while they are little they think that "working" on the farm is great fun. You see, it takes Grandpa twice as long to change a stream of water with these two little helpers; however, the lessons learned are priceless.

Mr. P has his 'gatin' boots on....but poor Little J still hasn't found boots that'll fit his chubby little feet! He's converting his winter bogs into mud boots...not hot at all!!

Carrying tubes from one irrigation set to the next...this is NOT FUN when it's really hot outside!

And....they drank Grandpa's water jug dry!

Cutting some of the rows to help the water move along.

Watching Grandpa start one of the big tubes.

Little J is learning how to handle a shovel like a pro!

The best thing of all is a nice little wash off in the ditch when the work's all done!
