A Few Corny Facts:

  • On average, an ear of corn has about 800 kernels in 16 rows.  (Not that we've counted!)
  • The ear (or cob) of corn is actually part of the flower and an individual kernel is a seed.
  • A bushel of corn can sweeten 400 cans of soda pop!
  • 1 bushel of corn is equal to 8 gallons.
  • Corn can be produced in various colors, including: blue, purple, white, red, black, and yellow.
  • Did you know that in addition to being eaten on the cob, corn is also used in many other foods?  You'll find it listed as an ingredient in potato chips, soup, marshmallows, cereal, peanut butter, margarine, salad dressing, gum, and cooking oil.
